Society is currently facing the consequences of prioritizing efficiency and scale within the industrialized food system, which ignores and often devalues smaller local farms. We’ve reached a point where 85% of farmers in the U.S. are over the age of 65, only 10% of what is spent on food in grocery stores actually makes it back to you hard-working producers, and because of this we’re facing the extinction of 90% of all small farms over the next 10 years.
MilkRun is using technology to build a localized food system that directly connects farmers to eaters — a scalable re-imagining of the “milkman model” — that makes it as easy for the community to access fresh, local food as it already is to book a stay in someone’s home or call a cab.
This way, we can put profits back into the pockets of farmers serving your communities, instead of large corporations and factory farms.
