Apply to be a MilkRun producer, to help us bring your fresh local food to your communities' tables.
Society is currently facing the consequences of prioritizing efficiency and scale within the industrialized food system, which ignores and often devalues smaller local farms. We’ve reached a point where 85% of farmers in the U.S. are over the age of 65, only 10% of what is spent on food in grocery stores actually makes it back to you hard-working producers, and because of this we’re facing the extinction of 90% of all small farms over the next 10 years.
MilkRun is using technology to build a localized food system that directly connects farmers to eaters — a scalable re-imagining of the “milkman model” — that makes it as easy for the community to access fresh, local food as it already is to book a stay in someone’s home or call a cab.
This way, we can put profits back into the pockets of farmers serving your communities, instead of large corporations and factory farms.
Locally grown food creates important economic opportunities, provides health benefits, and helps to reduce environmental impact. It also brings the community together and gives all of you an opportunity to make a difference.
“I realized this isn’t my problem. This is our problem... 85% of our farmers right now are over 65 years old. Nobody wants to take over their farming operations. Why? Well, you’d have to be a crazy person to spend all this money on college, quit your 6-figure a year salary, move out to he country, and take a job with no view of retirement, no benefits, and only the guarantee is that you’ll work your ass off every day for the rest of your life. But I did it — because someone has to.”
