In a stroke of good luck for Austin eaters, the humans of Steelbow Farm decided to head back to Texas after spending a few seasons farming in Maine. MilkRun could not be more excited to feature these farmer’s delicious, sustainably grown organic produce in our chef-curated boxes.
For Finegan Ferreboeuf and Jason Gold, the farmers of Steelbow, the health of the land, and the health of the community are the principles guiding their farming choices. Working five acres of leased land in Manor, Texas these two said they are getting back to their roots in the latest chapter of their farming journey, returning to the state where they learned to farm.
In their own words:
“We feel extremely lucky and privileged to be able to choose to farm as a livelihood. Both of us found ourselves where we are now, with dirty, calloused hands and farmer’s tans, because we love to eat good food. A shared meal is so much more than just sustenance. It is where bread is broken, ideas shared, bonds forged, and humanity enhanced. To grow is to cultivate and to feed is to nourish. We feel our best when we are doing these things.”
Farming is a tough lifestyle that isn’t a great fit for all. But for Jason, Finegan, and their crew, farming is an opportunity to connect to the wider community.
Steelbow Farm produces a wide variety of produce including chard, kohlrabi, beets, eggplant, onions, cabbage, potatoes, a plethora of greens, carrots, and more! Their fields are free of chemical pesticides and full of fun and fresh varieties that you are sure to love.
